Fuel Injectors, The Fuel Efficient Saviors

Hello truckers, this is our first blog for the year 2014 for IFTA and we wish we get the same response like we do every year. It’s good to write for an audience like you, taking interest in checking our blog and also, initiative to follow our blog.

Well, today, we’re writing on fuel injectors and their function, adding up the features to rule the advantages.

Fuel injectors are now the most demanding method of the fuel system for its varied design and configurations. These injectors have made the impossible a real possibility with their existence. A driver can improve his rig’s drivability, engine efficiency and control as fuel injection systems, replacing the traditional carburetor entirely. Even though, manufactures try really hard to maintain and develop techniques to improve the fuel system designs, fuel injectors remain in place.

As the engine is brought to life, the fuel pump in the gas tank, that feeds the fuel under pressure to the throttle body injector or multiport fuel injectors. However, this fuel pressure regulator maintains the pressure at a constant level, meantime the engine control module or computer receives engine temperature, throttle position, air stream density and temperature and crankshaft speed data from sensors. And then the computer uses the information to operate the fuel injectors, controlling the amount of time the injector needs to remain open for fuel delivery.

Functionalities Shared By Fuel Injectors:

The fuel injectors are electrical solenoid or coil operated by the engine computer. When energized, the injector screens fuel fed through the fuel line to keep the dirt and waste getting into the injector. As the electric current passes, the coil opens up the needle valve at the tip of the injector, allowing the injector nozzle to spray fuel into the intake manifold. Once the process is completed, a spring like closes the needle valve as the energy is cut to the injector.

In a multiport fuel system, fuel injectors’ helps in controlling fuel delivery to the engine with more precision than what a carburetor or throttle body injector systems can do. Also, they help the engine computer lower harmful emissions and increase engine power output.

Overall, injectors provide better fuel distribution, economy and idle operations.

Different Types Existing:

When we talk about the types, electronic fuel injectors are commonly divided into two types of gasoline injection system:

The first one is, throttle body injection system making use of one or two injector nozzle in the throttle body, sitting on the top of the engine, feeding the fuel to intake manifold, while the next comes in is multiport injection systems that use one or two injectors for each cylinder to feed the fuel directly through intake ports.

Precautions To Be Taken:

If you’re fuel injector has failed by any chance, it is easy to be replaced. However, it is important to relieve the fuel pressure from the fuel system before attempting to remove the injector. If you’re unplugging the fuel line under pressure adding enough force may lead to eye injury or fire.

It is good to check with your vehicle service manual for the correct procedure to service fuel injectors or fuel system in your rig.

On a conclusive note, it is good to make use of fuel injectors to maintain good fuel efficiency for your rigs. However, maintaining efficiency is not the end. We as the citizens of U.S. should follow and obey the taxation rules that mean filing IFTA taxes on time. If at all you cross any other jurisdiction from your base jurisdiction, you owe taxes to the state and can be filed through this form.

However, to add ease, TaxIFTA.com is one such product of THinkTrade Inc. which helps you in preparing your IFTA form online with ease, eliminating the errors usually occur in paper filing. Nevertheless, this assures you that you can file your taxes on time, expecting a positive respond from your base jurisdiction. For more assistance, you can contact us through phone @ 1-866-245-3918 or shoot a mail to support@taxexcise.com. We don’t like to make you wait, so you can expect real quick response from our end. Happy Filing!
